Our firm’s founding partner, Thomas Germscheid, began his legal career in 1980.
It is his name represented by the in our website and email address (ghllawfirm). Throughout his career in private practice, Mr. Germscheid served Minnesotans in virtually every type of legal issue, including criminal work, family law, business transactions, personal injury law, trials, and appeals. He was a civil trial specialist, and was named a SuperLawyer from the time of that honor’s inception until his departure from the firm in 2009.

Progress

In 2005, Mr. Germscheid hired Benjamin J. Heimerl. Soon, Mr. Heimerl headed up the firm’s worker’s compensation and personal injury divisions. Mr. Heimerl’s extensive leadership, problem solving and team-building skills acquired in the Marine Corps led to his becoming a partner in the firm in 2007. Germscheid Law Firm then became Germscheid & Heimerl, LLC and quickly began to thrive.

In 2007, the firm hired Michael B. Lammers. Like Mr. Heimerl, Mr. Lammers’ military experience helped the firm’s focus and discipline. Like Tom and Ben before him, Mike considers his clients’ needs to be a top priority and is a skilled listener and creative problem-solver. Mike was soon welcomed as Partner, thus building a foundation for creativity and growth.

Growth

In 2009, the firm was fortunate to have Kathryn Lammers and Amanda Maenner join the firm. Both Katie and Amanda are experienced attorneys well versed in all aspects of family law and civil litigation. Their expertise and thoughtful lawyering created a thriving family law practice, and allowed the firm to broaden its areas of practice to include Divorce, Custody, Estate Planning and Bankruptcy. Ms. Lammers was named a Rising Star in a survey by Minnesota Law & Politics. The publication asked Minnesota’s top lawyers to identify an elite group of emerging lawyers, either under the age of 40 or in practice less than 10 years, who have demonstrated the highest standards of excellence. Katie was one of only several hundred lawyers in Minnesota chosen as a Rising Star. Katie Lammers has earned the distinction of Rising Star for the year 2011.

With Mr. Germscheid’s retirement from private practice in 2010, the firm became Hiemerl & Lammers LLC. Continuing its path of growth and prosperity, H & L opened its new, main office in the North Loop neighborhood of downtown Minneapolis a few blocks from the new Twins’ Stadium.

Also in 2010, H & L brought William K. Bulmer II on board in an Of Counsel capacity. Will is an experienced criminal trial attorney in Minneapolis. Mr. Bulmer contributes his experience and tenacity to the firm’s criminal defense practice, thus rounding out its ability to aggressively and confidently serve our clients.
